I want to start by saying thanks. Your build is amazing and simple. I've spent the last 2 days trying to install PSM to freenas with little success. Your build is exactly what I need and works perfect. However...
I am installing the x32 Preload ISO to a sata 2TB drive (no other partitions or drives). Everything installs perfect and I can stream to my PS3. However, after I restart the box I am welcomed with "Error 18: selected cylinder exceeds maximum supported by bios". No amount of searching has yielded a result. I have reinstalled 3 times now with no success.
Could you help me determine why this is happening?
This error does not happen when I run via the Live USB raw installation. The issue with this setup is that I do not know how to add the hard drive and change all shares to point to this location.
Any information or assistance would be greatly helpfulEDIT:
I believe I have resolved my issue.
First of all, it seems that older computers cannot handle the boot partition being larger than a certain size (I've read it needs to be as low as 300MB). So my solution was to run via a usb stick.
I then ran into issues with my 2tb not formating. I downloaded and booted into Gparted and repartitioned the drive. By this point I had relearned enough linux to create the directory /shared/Media and map the new external drive using the command
- Code: Select all
mount -t ext3 /dev/sdb1 /shared/media
I then had to edit PMSserver-config to include the Media drive
Everything appears to be working now.
Once again, amazing program. Keep up the good work.EDIT2:
While the above command works and is a great test, it does not stay mounted between reboots.
Here is what I had to do.
- Code: Select all
/dev/sdb1 /shared/Media ext3 auto 0 0
The server and shares now successfully stay up between boots and everything is working great.
