Streaming live web video using pmsencoder

Postby darknuts » Thu Sep 22, 2011 8:43 pm

I just downloaded this program today and I have downloaded pmsencoder but I cannot figure exactly how to stream web videos. Where do I type the web address and other information in? I clicked on pmsencoder and there are no options. I have followed all of the steps posted by chocolateboy on his download page. I have searched through the message board but i haven't found anything that can help. I'm using PMS 1.40 on Ubuntu 10.4. Any help would be appreciated.
I'm running PMS 1.40 on Ubuntu 10.4. I'm also using pmsencoder 1.5.8.

The WEB.conf file needs to be in the profile directory.

It's already there. I pasted some stream links in there and now I don't know what to do. How do I get those streams on my ps3? I don't see anything in the gui that covers streaming. I'm confused...

I guess you didn't see the link Chocolateboy pasted in his reply. Try reading it, applying what is stated.

I've read it a number of times already but I still don't understand where the scripts are supposed to go. It seems like I have to make it in a text file but its not clear as to where that file needs to be saved. I clicked to link pertaining to this and it states:

"Scripts must now be placed in a directory i.e. pmsencoder.conf and/or pmsencoder.groovy should be removed."

Does that mean that scripts should be placed in the pmsencoder.conf or pmsencoder.groovy or does that mean they should be removed?

well i don't have everything up and running yet but i can see the channels on my ps3 now. I just install the channels plugin from chocolateboy's link. Once you install that, you will have a bunch of channels and under 'general settings' you will see a second button. Oh and there is a folder in the pms directory titled 'scripts'. Thats where the scripts go. Just cut and paste into a text file and save it there. The filenames have to end with .groove. Now I'm having a problem configuring rmtp.exe. I can't figure out how to get the pms to point to it's location. It seems like its designed for windows.

OK so now I got the channels to show up on my PS3 but when I try to stream, I get an error message code: 0000000 on my ps3. I have many channels and I've tried different encoders but I keep getting the same error.

Once again, I'm running PMS version 1.40 on Ubuntu 10.4 along with pmsencoder 1.45 and the channel plugin.

This is from my debug log:

I'm running PMS 1.40 on Ubuntu 10.4. I'm also using pmsencoder 1.5.8.

There isn't:

Release Notes for PMSEncoder 1.5.x wrote:Unless explicitly advised to do so, scripts should not be downloaded from the forum or GitHub and placed in the scripts directory (this was never recommended, and is now guaranteed to break PMSEncoder).

Thats where the scripts go.

What scripts?

Just cut and paste into a text file and save it there.

Don't do that.

The filenames have to end with .groove.

There's no such extension.

Now I'm having a problem configuring rmtp.exe.

It isn't.

Uninstall and undo everything you've done...
