I have the same problem with my Samsung UE32C6700. The problem is the same for AVI+SRT and MKV movies with contained subs. The subtitles show okay when I render on Totem + Coherence (DLNA plugin) on linux. I use the linux version of PMS, and have ASS/SSA disabled.
I don't understand why one renderer would render the subs perfectly and another would not. But then, I'm a complete n00b in
. But to me this means the subs aren't rendered into the movie stream as pixels but as some kind of metadata, am I correct? And the problem would then be that the Samsung TV doesn't understand that data, whereas Totem does.
I'll see if Samsung's own Share Manager software can handle srt subs...
Thanks in advance,
