Alternative 'Folder' Image

Just a thought - it would be nice to be able to have an different image for folders.

I'm thinking, like we have the ability to give a mkv file an image - to be able to give the folder they are in an image.

I'd like to have my movies folder to be one image then my tv folder another different image - and so on.

We could maybe save an image in the same directory as the folder something like 'Movies.folder.jpg' where 'movies is the name of the folder - pretty simular to how we currently do filename.mkv.cover.jpg

Pretty sure images on actual folders (not files) are only supported by the PS3 OS for locally stored content.

However if you don't require individual images for video files you can already drop a folder.jpg image into a folder full of videos and have that image applied to all files in the folder (handy for Seasons of TV shows)

Yeah have got that on my system for some tv shows - it works well.

It was rather the ability to have actual folder images rather than the plain ole 'folder'...

This is something I too would like to see, a folder image and seperate movie file images....

So do we think this is do-able then? An image on the folder itself as well as for files within the folder?

This is currently about the only thing you can do now with locally stored media that PMS can't yet do.

I would like to see this feature as well but I dont think it will happen unless sony adds support for folder icons to a firmware update.

I think the folder icon image is controlled by the XMB.
