Sony BDP-S370 (DLNA-compatible with new firmware M03.R.567)

Discuss alternative media renderers (not PS3) supported by PS3 Media Server (like Xbox 360 and TVs)

Hi all,

Any suggestions on how to overcome stuttering on the S370? It happens for me with 720p and 1080p content. As a workaround I set the max video bitrate in s370.conf to 30 and that seems to have stopped it (obviously at a cost to video quality). The content is being transcoded on an i7-930 @ 3.6GHz. Also no issues with transcoding to a PS3.

Thanks

What format is the original video? Can it not be streamed rather than transcoded?

Can this format not be streamed with a .avi mimetype? Does it play ok off a USB drive?

They show up in the XMB as .avi files, but PMS is transcoding them as shown in the trace, and the status tab shows the transcode buffer. Apart from the max video bit rate I set in bdp-s370.conf it is the same as the one in the patch.

Yes, no problems. Shows up as MKV format and plays without stutter.

Maybe the config can be tweaked to force it to stream? Out of interest, if you rename the file to a .avi does it still transcode rather than stream?

Hi there,

I've got the Sony BDP-S480 (new model) and found the .conf file for the BDP x70 in this thread and put it into my renderer folder in the install folder for PMS.

When I start a movie from the BDP I can then see on my pc that the PMS starts to serve (seen in the Traces tab). However on the tv screen all that happens is a black screen with a turning icon in the top right corner..

any thoughts ?

cheers

I don't have a BDP-S480 to try, but the patch for the BDP-Sx70 players works. But you have to compile your own PS3MS though. I suspect one may also need to svn check out an older vevision of the code i.e. possibly revision 514.

Hi grolschie

Thanks for your pointers.

I'm very very newbie on compiling - can you maybe point to a quick guide on that thing or is there a thread I can read through here on the board ?..
also please elaborate on the term: "svn".

:-) thanks alot for your help
