Cinavia has changed....or FW had a kinder surprise

Postby devildog93 » Sat Mar 12, 2011 6:16 pm

Anyone else noticed that since the last FW update for the PS3 that the Cinavia DRM workaround is broken?

I had 3 movies infected by it. All of which played fine, all the way thru using the "multi-out" trick.

And the messages come up instantly now on movies protected by it.

Now, none of them play past 30 seconds once one of them is viewed past the typical 20 minute "breaking point" and the message comes up.

Just curious if I am the only one seeing this.

Yeah, it has been around for a while, but there was a workaround that bypassed it. Now it looks like Sony added a fix to break it. All 3 of my infected files are showing the message again.

Looks like it's time to bust out the AVCHD discs on my older Panasonic BD player. You can't keep this buccaneer down...

I don't follow, how are you going to work-around the cinavia now?

Sounds like ... by playing them on a device that is pre-cinavia?

Looks like Sony is doing everything in it's power to make the PS3 a non desirable mediaplayer.
While the most basic mediaplayers and even cheaper Sony blu-ray players supports MKV nowadays, the PS3 still doesn't.
