NaviX support

Postby SharkHunter » Sat Feb 12, 2011 3:43 pm

Hi all,

Forgive me for starting a new topic but if I just posted this in the ChannelPlugin thread it would have drowned.

The ChannelPlugin (http://ps3mediaserver.org/forum/viewtop ... =12&t=9329) has now support for NaviX (http://navix.turner3d.net/).

The NaviX support is however not perfect right now (I know BBC ain't working). For that reason the Channel dumps it's debug to a file in the directory where you store your .ch files.
I really need to get help checking all the weird sites out there, so when you have troubles send this "channel.log" file either here or via the GitHub (https://github.com/SharkHunter/Channel)

As of 2001-04-29 the installation has been improved by the SharkHunter Buil. See this thread viewtopic.php?f=14&t=10854d

Okay... 3rd channel and attempt at trying to reach out to you now but no biggie... :P

This is Bill Daly with Team Navi-X, a.k.a. iRoNBiLL. I would like to get some instruction on how to put your plugin you made for Navi-X into PS3 Media Server but it seems to be rocket science and a big secret on how to to this. If you could reach out to me at billdaly111 at gmail dot com that would be great. If you give me step by step instructions once, I promise you won't ever have to repeat them again as I will put them in a few channels for people to get at and know. I would rather not try to figure these things out myself since I do enough support for Navi-X at our forums. I am dying to try this out myself (PS3 owner) no matter how beta it is cause you all would be the first to break ground for Navi-X accessibility on Playstation 3, WHICH I GET AN UNGODLY AMOUNT OF REQUESTS FOR!! Thanks for your consideration and hospitality in the matter!

Warm Regards,

Bill Daly

Start here
https://github.com/SharkHunter/Channel/ ... stallation and here https://github.com/SharkHunter/Channel/ ... /README.md
Cutting the install:
The installation of the Channel plugin might not be as simple as one would like it to be. This is mostly due to the external scripts etc. that are required. Here follows a more detailed description with links to all the scripts.

* Download the plugin jar and place it in the PMS plugins directory.
* Download Channel files you need and place them in a new directory.
* Fetch the relevant PMSEncoder scripts from here and here.
* If you plan to use the get-flash-videos script (this is mandatory for the Megavideo items in the Icefilms channel) you'll also need to fetch the get-flash-videos Perl script. This can be found here. This script has some additional Perl module dependencies. See here for more details.
* Restart PMS and all should be done.

This is the NaviX channel:
https://github.com/SharkHunter/Channel/ ... s/navix.ch
version=0.1
channel NaviX {
#img=http://svtplay.se/img/brand/svt-play.png
folder {
name=Site scraper
url=http://navix.turner3d.net/playlist/2229/realtime_scrapers.plx
type=navix
}
folder {
name=Sample playlist
url=http://navi-x.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/Navi-X/examples/example%202.plx
type=navix
}
}
Change the url in the sample playlist for something better.

Note: plugins don't currently work (painlessly) on Mac OS X.

  1. Grab a recent PMS (412 or SubJunk's Build).
  2. Make sure PMS isn't running.
  3. Install PMSEncoder.
  4. Save the latest Channel .jar in the plugins folder.
  5. Create a channels directory and set "channels.path" to point to it in PMS.conf e.g. if you create a channels directory in the PMS folder (i.e. alongside the plugins folder), then add "channels.path = channels" (without the quotes) to PMS.conf.
  6. Save the script below to the channels directory as navix.ch
  7. Start PMS and navigate to Video -> Channels -> Navi-X.

navix.ch

Code: Select all
version=0.1

channel Navi-X {
    folder {
        name=Site Scraper
        url=http://navix.turner3d.net/playlist/2229/realtime_scrapers.plx
        type=navix
    }
    folder {
        name=Root Playlist
        url=http://www.navi-x.org/playlists/med_port.plx
        type=navix
    }
}

I couldn't get anything in Site Scrapers to work. Guess I need RTMPDUMP but like everything else in this piece of software, it's hidden for safe-keeping. Where do I get RTMPDUMP and how come when I link to a file my PS3 can play normally via the Navi-X plugin, it doesn't show up in the list after restarting and several attempts. I linked to an MP4 video file and it doesn't even show up in my playlist I linked to. Is the Navi-X plugin for PS3 Media Server supposed to show video listings now or is this puppy still "very beta" and this is something you are working on SharkHunter?? Not trying to stir up trouble, but I put this note here so others can help or have the heads up as well. Don't mean to disrespect anyone or step on toes... I'm just ambitious to play ANYTHING using this plugin on PS3 Media Server. Thank you greatly in advance!

Navi-X -> Root Playlist -> Navi-Xtreme Media Portal -> Most-viewed lists of the last 24 hours -> Family Guy.

You all never included a link to Navi-Xtreme Media Portal in the list... so I have to add this manually... this would make it easier is all I'm saying Chocolateboy. ;)

First of all there is a "bug" (or missing feature) the "report" keyword is not supported yet. This leads to an infite loop!. Fixed that on the GitHub (the jar file only).
Second have you installed PMSEncoder? And done the following in PMS.conf?
engines = pmsencoder,mencoder,avsmencoder,tsmuxer,mplayeraudio,ffmpegaudio,tsmuxeraudio,vlcvideo,mencoderwebvideo,mplayervideodump,mplayerwebaudio,vlcaudio,ffmpegdvrmsremux
