Those nike wearing, christian loving, spamming douchebags really start to annoy me; I guess meskibob would agree deleting those posts isn't an interesting task!?

4. Avoid Posting of Links From New Users: Do not allow new members to post live links of any other site no matter that is useful or not. It will better idea to allow new members to post live links only after they become regular and active member of the forum and have posted a number of useful posts.

b) I've looked at a few ideas (the one you mentioned above, first post verification in general, a couple others I can't find ATM) but unfortunately it's not up to me to implement...

enabling captcha registrations or email verification registration will reduce it quite abit.

Both are already required, but they really only stop bots. In our case they are actually signing up.
Unfortunately there's no way to really stop spamming entirely, but there are ways to mitigate the damage...

Some forums has limits for new members positing links.
So if new member will create first posts with links, it is filtered/deleted/forbidden.

wow, i havent registered for a very long time and with the amount of spam i thought both were off lol. doesnt leave u too many options.

Isn't approving all those posts by hand more work then banning a spammer? That mod looks interesting, I'll have a go at that.
