I just installed 1.20.412-SB9 and I can not playback those MKV's that give errors or no sound again.

I guess this means you did not add those 3 updates that I was talking about in my post early in this thread.

Can I ask why you have not added them?

SubJunk, just wanted to say thanks. All my MKV's are working with tsmuxer again, keeping dts intact. I've been forced to transcode with avisyth/ffmepeg for months now. Don't know how you did it, but thanks.

Maybe you can fix these 3 issues i have with CUE files.
1.) if i have a cue file that references a single full album Flac audio file. The cue file does not show up on the XMB.
2.)If i have a cue file that references multiple flac files (split albums by track) then the cue file does show up on the XMB but only the first track in the song appears and is played.
3.)If i have a cue file that references a single ful ambum wav file. The cue file does not show up on the XMB iether.

Any ideas what may be going on here?
I had this issue with the official branch as well.

Hi SubJunk, nice work!, I would like to ask you for a feature if you have the time (and motivation..), see the problem I have is when i try to watch 3D videos, those are normal MKV files but they display two streams, SidebySide, normally this works fine, the problem is when we add subtitles, those are rendered in the middle of both images, then when the TV processes this images, the video is in 3D, but the subtitles are not readable, do you think there could be a fix for this?

I'm thinking the fix would be to enable to display subtitles on both sides, but I'm not sure.

I have a problem with the latest version. when I install PMS as a windows service and start it (manually or automatically), I can't see the server on PS3. The previous build work . But when I start PMS with Gui, It's ok.

Disregard the shortcut issue after installing the latest version of iTunes the icon has appeared and i no longer have the issue. Go figure.

is there any way to get all your builds available for download. I woke up this morning to over 100 java console memory error windows onscreen of my laptop. I stopped counting after that and had to hard reboot it. I think I paused a movie last night and this is what caused this, but I have done that often before without these results.

I also noticed this last build generally feels a little less stable. If you had the other releases available, I could maybe try and narrow down which change might be causing the instability, as I only have the newest and the oldest (first) version in my inventory.

Either way, good job, and I will just go back to your first release for now.

I leave the old versions on the server, so just change the filename in the download link. So for example if you want the fifth release, get http://www.spirton.com/uploads/PMS/pms- ... 12-SB5.exe and for the second get http://www.spirton.com/uploads/PMS/pms- ... 12-SB2.exe

I've still a major problem playing the "ordinary" DVD's (you know, VOB etc.)
I asked you before, but did never got a clear solution to this problem.
MKV is playing best, and that's a little odd because DVD's are that more simple to render/stream, doesn't it??
My max buffer is ok, bandwidth also etcetera. The only thing is that DVD's are playing like you are drunk and can't keep up with the movie (slowmotion like I mentioned before).

Tell me; what can I do. I've got more downloaded DVD's then MKV.
I like to watch them now after a period of 4 weeks waiting.

Still, I like to thank you ofcourse. You're hard work is admireable!

Hi JP I have tested .VOB files ripped from DVDs and they work for me. If the problem isn't related to the bandwidth or buffer I don't know what it could be. Sorry I can't be of more help, but it is mysterious to me

I have used your source code to compile a new PMS.jar for OS X that I replaced myself. Works great, thank you for your hard work.
One question, the source code is based on SB7. Any chance the code will be updated to SB8 soon?
Also, I think I still need to update mencoder and ffmpeg and any other but have no sources for latest binaries. Any ideas?
i can upload an OS X binary if what i'm doing is correct for everyone else to test.

Hi JP, sorry no. I don't know of any DVDs with double-NTSC framerate, at least it is very uncommon.
Mostly this allows people to play the 60FPS content that a lot of sports channels (like HDNet) are airing.

First I would like to give you a big thank you for releaseing new updates to the best Media Server around and keeping it alive and kicking!!



I have a question for you.

As you may or may not know a lot of users here have been reporting issues with playing some MKV files. They get errors or no sound from these MKV's files.

Any how a while ago a user called "Redsz" made a thread with info on how to fix this issue. That thread can be found here viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7894

Even with your latest build of PS3 Media Server (SubJunk Build) 1.20.412-SB8 users will still see these MKV playback issues.

However after following the info in that thread posted above and using your build I can now play all of those MKV files that used to give me errors and no sound with out any issues at all. All MKV files now playback perfect!




So what I am asking is are you planning on adding those 3 updates that fix the MKV playback issues to one of your future builds of PS3 Media Server (SubJunk Build)?

Because with out these 3 updates you will still get these MKV playback issues

I do keep up with MPlayer and FFmpeg updates with this build, but MEncoder is a problem since the newer builds don't support .ass subtitles (a very common subtitle format, especially with anime releases) so I won't be updating that until it is fixed. I am in touch with Sherpya via email about it and I hope he will be able to fix it soon. I don't think it is a big priority for him but he is aware of it.

There is a new release of mencoder/Mplayer available (V 32735). Here is the link for Win32-version: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mplayer-win32/files/

I can't find any release notes what has been changed but I think a new version fixes always some bugs and adds new features. Perhaps you could integrate them in the new SUBJUNK-build?

in sb9 playing avi to bravia 5500 is now file is not supported (even though its trying to transcode it like usual, the config files for sb8-sb9 are identical for the bravia so not sure whats broke mencoder version? anyway even with avi in the transcode list it says its not supported when its outputting exactly what it was outputting before.

hmm that's worrying! if you want to help me test the problem, could you please copy the win32 folder from SB8 on top of SB9 and see if the problem still occurs?

ok i reinstalled sb9 and copied the sb8 win32 folder over to it, still not working says playback not supported the log shows its trying to transcode it like usual this is a very strange error cuz everything appears to be like it was before. anyway i reinstalled sb8 again and its playing avi's fine again very strange indeed. so basically its not the codecs/players it must be something else done in sb9 im guessing it has something to do with Applied tsp's bugfixes 2, 3, 4 and 6, he tested it on a 5500 though so very strange indeed. though it could be something else no idea.
