Samsung AllShare uPnP/DLNA

Postby djfred » Tue Dec 07, 2010 5:59 am

Hey peeps,

I have decided to make a topic for all Samsung TV owners that have AllShare DLNA.
A little help of the philips.conf file to get the base going was a big help.
After everything was set and done, running .MKV containers 720p/1080p movies over a GigE line runes smooth. (GigE not needed but can be used, TV's max is 100Mbs)

Fixed:
[*]Rewind and Fast forward works with no issues also.
[*]Detects all if not most Samsung TV's (With the help of this forum the listed ones at the bottom are confirmed working.)

Still Pending:
[*]Subtitles (this i believe is a PS3 Server problem more then a Conf problem. I will not give up on this)
[*]Thumbnails (same with subtitles)

All it's correct i'm ready to share file .

My model is Samsung UE40C5100UW
and my "samsung-5100".nfo is:

Code: Select all
RendererName=Samsung UE40C5100
RendererIcon=philips.png
UserAgentSearch=SEC_HHP_TV soggiorno/1.0
Video=true
Audio=true
Image=true
SeekByTime=true
TranscodeVideo=MPEGAC3
TranscodeAudio=PCM
DefaultVBVBufSize=true
MuxH264ToMpegTS=true
MuxDTSToMpeg=true
WrapDTSIntoPCM=false
MuxLPCMToMpeg=false
MaxVideoBitrateMbps=25
MaxVideoWidth=0
MaxVideoHeight=0
MimeTypesChanges=audio/wav=audio/L16|video/x-matroska=video/avi
TranscodeExtensions=
StreamExtensions=mkv,mp3,mp4,avi,mov

But i have some question for you
Are you sure that transcoding is correct ?
Have you try transcode a mkv file with header compression ?
about internet web you see youtube files?
Thank for your support
Best regards

hey sidecar12,

I believe transcoding is correct. When i play Mkv files it plays just fine with no problems. Not sure what you mean by header compression though.

When i go into the Web folder with the TV i do see the youtube listed files such as Top Rated, Most Recent, PS3, Playlist but when i click on a file to play the loading screen just stays and then restarts my TV i personally do not care that much about the web content.

Also in the Radio under web nothing shows up. It could also be that the TV doesn't support that kinda of feature.

EDIT: I read on here somewhere that the Web content isnt supported yet for TV's.

Hi djfred,
Well can you make a test for me ?
Attached there is little file .mkv with header compression please try it and report the "transcoding"result.
For me this file don't work.
Note: VLC player play it without problem
Note note: If i remove header compression my samsung play it (without transcode).

Okay so i tried the file, and the video plays back fine but its the audio that says no supported. because its a Vorbis codec.
if the audio was AC-3 or DTS i wouldn't have a problem.
And video Muxing max it supports is High@L4.1

To see what files natively my TV supports check out the users manual page: 34.
It explains the Video and Audio support

Ok! Thank djfred
I'm happy for you if you are able to view mkv with header compression, i don't know if the reason of that is the serie 5 not 6 of my samsung tv( http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/conte ... 4-0302.pdf).But i don't understand if you see the file through transcode process inside PS3 MEDIA SERVER since you don't hear audio.
If is that please,if you want,send me a log file about this transcode.

Otherwise :cry: the "chance" that i have with PS3 media server is the same with samsung share manager.

Best regards

on your users manual on page 33 it has the same supported media as mine does.

I have uploaded 2 logs for you.

one is the normal stream of the file Native support by the TV
and
the other one is going thru the #--TRANSCODE--# folder in PSM server.
oh also when going thru the transcode process the screen goes black and says loading for about 30secs then returns back to the folder directory.
Nothing ever shows. but the normal way i only get audio not supported.

I ran the same process thru Samsung media player i get the Audio not supported msg, but video plays back fine.

If you have AIM/YAHOO/HOTMAIL chat clients we can talk thru that to make this process faster for you.

Thanks

Stutter and crash problemw with Samsung PN63C8000

Postby rta » Sun Dec 12, 2010 7:09 pm

Hi. I have the PN63C8000 Samsung plasma 3D TV. I have PMS set up and talking with the TV. I am steaming a MKV file which PMS is transcoding the audio to AC3 (which is what I want in this case). At first it works pretty good but with a little bit of choppiness! However after about 10 seconds the playback gets real choppy and then my TV aborts the playback.

I am running PMS on a super fast, high end PC. My TV and PC is connected to my network all over a wired connection. PMS reports the TVs connection speed at 55Mbps (its a long cable run so maybe that's why its not closer to 100?).

I tried changing the settings in PMS so that the maximum network Mbps used is 50. Then I tried 30. But none of this mattered.

I am using the default Samsung.conf file except I changed the user agent identifier like this:
UserAgentSearch=SEC_HHP_TV-63C8000/1.0

Here is the entire conf file:
# ps3mediaserver renderer profile for Samsung Wiselink
# Refer to PS3.conf for help

RendererName=Samsung PN63C8000 Plasma
RendererIcon=bravia.png
UserAgentSearch=SEC_HHP_TV-63C8000/1.0
Video=true
Audio=true
Image=true
SeekByTime=false
TranscodeVideo=MPEGAC3
TranscodeAudio=PCM
DefaultVBVBufSize=true
MuxH264ToMpegTS=true
MuxDTSToMpeg=true
WrapDTSIntoPCM=false
MuxLPCMToMpeg=false
MaxVideoBitrateMbps=0
MaxVideoWidth=0
MaxVideoHeight=0
MimeTypesChanges=audio/wav=audio/L16
TranscodeExtensions=mov
StreamExtensions=mp3,mp4,avi

This is Samsung's latest highest end TV and it has a lot of great support for DLNA. Its own PC Media Share DLNA works flawlessly. However it does not support transcoding which is why I am interested in PMS.

In the tracelog I see this:
Starting transcode/remux
then a few second later I see this:
java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 594745200 followed by lots more exception information showing the stack.

I am running the beta v1.20.412. FWIW I experience similar choppiness and problems trying on my PS3 as well.

Can someone please recommend some different settings I can try to resolve this issue? I tried the suggestions in the general FAQ but those did not help.

Thank you!

I have a new Samsung UN46C6300 and I've been reading about getting my DLNA connection to work all day! I used to have my PMS connected to a Sony LCD and I never had a problem. Now that I connected the Samsung, it recognizes my iMac in the DLNA source on the TV, and I can even browse through all of my files. But...nothing is supported! What do I need to do to get them working? I have mostly 720p mkv video files, and I'd like to share my music (mp3) and pictures (jpg) if possible too.

If anyone could help me through this I would really appreciate it!! I think it might have something to do with these rendering files but I'm just not that tech savvy...I've gotten this far but now I'm stuck. Thank you in advance.

Hi Everyone,

I have recently installed an UnRaid storage NAS box and migrated all of my media from Windows 7 (where I previously had DLNA sharing through WMP to my Samsung TV) to the NAS. The original intention was to add the SMB shares from the UnRaid NAS to Windows 7 and continue to stream my media as I did previously, but I found out that Windows 7 WMP does not allow you to stream files from a NAS; you can only stream local media. That sucked balls!

Anyways, that's when I went digging around for a DLNA streaming solution that I could use to stream my media directly from my NAS to replace the functionality I had with WMP. I came across PS3MS and after around 4 hours of fiddling around, I now have a fully functional solution which streams more media formats that I ever had before. Also the quality is fantastic, playing high quality movies with full support for pausing and restarting, skipping forwards and backwards, etc.

I used these instructions to get PS3MS running on UnRaid, but I used the latest version of PS3MS (vv1.20.412) -> http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.p ... dia_Server

Then I used the samsung render file that was posted by djfred in this thread but include the user agent for my Samsung Series 5 TV -> DLNADOC/1.50

A copy of my conf file is below:
Code: Select all
RendererName=Samsung 5 Series LCD TV
RendererIcon=philips.png
UserAgentSearch=DLNADOC/1.50
Video=true
Audio=true
Image=true
SeekByTime=true
TranscodeVideo=MPEGAC3
TranscodeAudio=PCM
DefaultVBVBufSize=true
MuxH264ToMpegTS=true
MuxDTSToMpeg=true
WrapDTSIntoPCM=false
MuxLPCMToMpeg=false
MaxVideoBitrateMbps=25
MaxVideoWidth=0
MaxVideoHeight=0
MimeTypesChanges=audio/wav=audio/L16|video/x-matroska=video/avi
TranscodeExtensions=
StreamExtensions=mkv,mp3,mp4,avi,mov

Anyways, I thought I would post for the benefit of others. Good luck - I am going to watch a movie on my new set up :)
