Sony SMP-N100

Discuss alternative media renderers (not PS3) supported by PS3 Media Server (e.g. Xbox 360, TVs &c.)

Sony SMP-N100

Postby CeJ » Mon Nov 15, 2010 6:04 pm

Hello,
I just bought a Sony SMP-N100. He sees PS3 media server but I can not play video, image, music.
Is it possible to have a configuration file?

http://www.sony.fr/product/usb-media-players/smp-n100/tab/technicalspecs%20#%20pageType%20=%20Overview

Thank you,
(Excuse my English)

Short answer: turn your SMP-N100 on and follow these instructions.

If you want to do it yourself, read on:

Apart from (local) MKV support, it's the same as the PS3.

  • Copy renderers/PS3.conf to renderers/SMPN100.conf.
  • Look in your debug.log for the user-agent used by the SMP-N100.
  • Add any unique substring of the user agent to the UserAgentSearch property near the top of SMPN100.conf (the value is case-insensitive).

You can find the user-agent by searching the debug.log for:

Code: Select all
Received on socket: User-Agent:

Also look at the following:

Code: Select all
Received on socket: X-AV-Client-Info:

lines in debug.log. If there's anything there that looks like it might help to identify your renderer, then edit the second line of:

Code: Select all
UserAgentAdditionalHeader=X-AV-Client-Info
UserAgentAdditionalHeaderSearch=PLAYSTATION

accordingly. Otherwise, comment those two lines out. Once you're done, post the resulting SMPN100.conf here so that others can use and improve it.

Thank you for your reply.

I found the user-agent: Media Player
But SMPN100 can't play videos, music, photo.
I can not make a configuration file that works...

Code: Select all

There is a problem with rights.
I do not know how to solve this problem...

In network mode it accepts:

DivX

My SMPN100.conf :

As much as I like PS3 Media Server, I had to try out another DLNA server to get the SMP-N100 to play videos.
Using Serviio, I was able to stream videos, music and photos to the SMP-N100.

How's Serviio work with the PS3?

Haven't tried an mkv file, but seems to be working pretty well with the PS3.
There is no Internet streaming, though. However I am running both PMS and Serviio at the same time with no issues.
