Don't know about legal. For me all my ripped TV program DVD's are way off. They playback perfectly via non-patched version and my PS3. While my S570 finds them and plays them, progress no doubt, as noted they are way off either transcoded or non-transcoded.

I appreciate your help but honestly I'm getting a bit confused. Do we need to recompile ps3 from source code or are we changing something in the jar file and rezipping?

I tried serviio. I'll stick with PS3 Media Server.

The patch that I use requires downloading the source code and applying the patch, then recompiling. The tools that are downloaded make this a relatively simple process.

What format are the video files? e.g. divx video and mp3 audio in a .avi container. Or do all file types have this result?

They are ripped dvd's. So IFO, VOB, etc.

Just tested it on my config. No problem as far as I can tell. The files are streamed, not transcoded.

Thanks for testing it. Still having severe out of synch issues with the 570 and none with the PS3 on same files and same network.

No problem. Have you tried the patch and config that I posted here? It might break things for the PS3 however.

I've d/l the compiled .exe version of patters and used your conf file. Some times the S570 reports no playable media. I'd like to get it working but with the PS3 working I'm ready to let it go for awhile.

The only way I get any media files to play on the S570 is to go to the transcoded folder by the way.

The patch is here:

It's a source code patch, so it needs the entire source tree downloaded, not that .exe file.
