I tried my old Bravia-EX.conf (see below) with 412 and it seems to work.
The one that comes with 412 (from here) or the one listed above do not work for my 40ex500 with latest fw.
It will not play any avis with the included and with the one from above (the to be tested one) i get mencoder hang with 100% cpu. have to kill in taskman.

this works fine for me with x264 mkvs, xvid/divx/mp4 avis, flv, mp3 audio and jpgs: (i dont try/use other files)

Hi, I have a Sony TV BRAVIA KDL-32EX700 connected to my personnal network by Ethernet. I don't have a PS3 but for all I understand PS3 Media Serveur can transcode from my PC to my TV.
(I'm using PS3 Media Server for Windows v1.20.412 BETA)

I was following the #1 post method but PSM can't connect du my PS3 (I don't have one).

For the Bravia-EX.conf I just modified the RendererName= that give my the file.
note : Just after the install theere was no renderers folders on "C:\Program Files\PS3 Media Server" so I create one with the .conf file (there was no PS3.conf too).
Code: Select all
    # ps3mediaserver renderer profile for Sony Bravia 2010 EX700 series
    # Refer to PS3.conf for help

    RendererName=Sony Bravia EX700 Series
    RendererIcon=bravia.png

I was using the lastest firmware PKG4.077EUL-0108

Does anyone know if I'm doing something wrong ?, more important can I use PSM without having a PS3 by just connecting my PC to my TV ?.
Actually my TV Bravia can see and brose my shared folder on my PC and my Network drive but didn't detect any file (mp3,jpg or avi ...).

PS : Sorry for my English, I'm not a native English speaker ;)

You need "|" between brackets like this (BRAVIA KDL.+EX4)|(BRAVIA KDL.+EX5)|(BRAVIA KDL.+EX6)|(BRAVIA KDL.+EX7)|(BRAVIA KDL.+HX7)|(BRAVIA KDL.+NX5)

It's ok, this is the same for all 2010 Sony Bravia TV

Postby Don_Henrique » Fri Nov 05, 2010 6:14 pm

Hello :D
I installed the generic version 1.20.412 BETA for Linux on my FreeNAS. No problems for the installation.
On my tv (Sony Bravia KDL-46HX700 with the lastest firmware connected to my personnal network.), when I run a diagnostic for the PMS recognition , I have the following message:
Unknown server Name (192.168.0.12) failure of the verification.

I'm tested with the Windows version of PMS and I have no problem. PMS is recognized by TV and I can access it without problem.

Someone as an idea how I can fix this?

Thank you four your help

Best Regards
Don Henrique

Hi,

I have a BRAVIA KDL-40EX605. I'm using pms-linux-1.20.412. I'm using the first configuration showed on this topic. I can play quite a lot of video, audio types but some few problems remains:

1) I can't get external subtitle to be display(I tried srt subtitle). I just get the movie with no subtitle.

2) With a mkv movie, I got a black screen without sound on the TV.

Have someone been able to resolve this kind of problem?

Sony BRAVIA does not support external subtitle, must be burned with the video encoding.

You could have a look on this viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7203&start=90#p38163
Could you provide MediaInfo of your mkv movie?

Thank you Illico, I'm looking after the topic you suggested. Let see if I can slve something!

In fact I unselected the mencoder option which says to remux whne compatible with ps3 player and the mkv is played. Though the sound has a huge lag of about 8 s!

After stopping the movie, I switched off the TV, switched on, and tried to continue to watch the video. I only got the sound and a black screen (twice, even starting the mOvie from zero).

Hey Illico,

I've been following the PMS forum for quite some time already, in fact since the start of the World Cup this past summer when I bought my SONY BRAVIA KDL-40HX700 TV.

I'd like to contribute to your good initiative on this thread, gathering the best possible information on settings for all SONY BRAVIA 2010 users all around the world.

In the past 6 months I have extensively tested, modified, re-tested and tuned over and over all the settings to get the Windows PMS finely customized to work along my BRAVIA. Most readers would probably wonder by now, is that so difficult to get right in the first place? Well, not at all! :D In fact with the current pms-setup-windows-1.20.412 most of the tricky part is pre-configured pretty well already. It is just cause of my profession in the video editing world that I kind of got used to high expectations when it comes to proper rendering & encoding to achieve excellent video playback quality on a display.

So I'm planning to type a step-by-step quick guide, so everyone can manage to get the best out of their fantastic BRAVIA TV's! ;)

I'd like to know from you, how do you think we should make the guide available? I could post right here, and you link it from your OP, or maybe better I type a version that blends into your OP, so you just can update your OP and paste it in there.

Just let me know what's best.

Cheers!
