PMS cant play some .mkv

Postby Baller80 » Sat Feb 21, 2009 10:50 pm

I was wondering if there is a way to make PMS play all kinds of .mkv files?
Currrently It plays 720p, 1080p but some .mkv files wont work. The screen becomes black and nothing happens, no error message either. Even after some time had passed the screen was still black, nothing happened.

It is probably impossibly to guarantee that PMS will play 100% of all MKV files in the whole world since the matroska container can contain very many different types of video and audio tracks.

Exactly why some of your tracks will not play, and weather this can be fixed , is impossible for us to theorize over until you post more information about them.

Are you going through the main folder in which the file is placed or are you using the Transcode folder? For me sometimes files will automatically transcode fine from the general folder often enough not and will require me to go into the #Transcode# folder and actually have me select my transcoding engine. Also you can try using different transcoding engines as often some playback better than others or work with certain files better.

I have some mkv's with "vc-1" in the titel. There might be a problem with a wvc1 codec, wich is a problem by mkv2vob as well.
Looking for a solution....
