Have not seen information on this with community builds nor with 412 so wanted to ask.

Where are we at on VLC support? Still with 0.9.... etc.?

The community beta should include the patches linked above, and the latest (unreleased) version of PMSEncoder supports any version of VLC.

Installed VLC 1.1.0. PS3 Media Server finds it. Will play later. But at least VLC is not found with most current VLC version.

Other than on the transcoding setup screen it appears VLC 1.x is not utilized. Did not figure this out until I started playing with video streams, audio streams, etc., today. VLC .98 works fine.
