Avisynth/Mencoder Settings Help - Currently Crashes Mencoder

Postby mckoz » Sun Feb 15, 2009 8:33 pm

Just switching from Fuppes, Tversity, Twonky, etc. to PS3 Media Server, and loving the experience so far. I've been having some issues with A/V Syncing, and am experimenting with the Avisynth/Mencoder solution. Currently I get the Corrupted Data screen when trying to use this method, although the standalone mencoder works, just has some issues with A/V sync and seems to be either mono or stereo only. I was trying to find a howto for this section in the Readme:
____________________
Using Avisynth/FFDshow. Paired with CoreAVC, it's quite efficient with multi cores.
1- If not already done, get and install a codec pack with ffdshow (VSfilter must be included for subtitles).
My favorite is CCCP Codec Pack [http://www.cccp-project.net/download.php?type=cccp]
2- Get and install AVISynth 2.5.7 (I've met some framerate problems with 2.5.8 betas)
3- Set up the FFDShow Audio Mixer to 5.1 (3/0/2 LFE)
4- Set "Autoload VS Filter" to true
5- Configure Haali Splitter (audio/subtitles language priorities)
_____________________

I have no interest in subtitles. My guess is that I haven't set up the Avisynth and codecs correctly, but I don't have info on how to do that. In the Avisynth/Mencoder transcoding settings, I have the Enable framerate change box checked, and haven't changed anything in the customizing box.

My current specs:

Windows Server 2003, Dual Xeon 2.4Ghz, 2G of Ram, nothing else running on the box.
Movie storage on NAS (fuppes) with dual 100G nics running to the NAS, and a windows share on the Media Server.
100G Cisco switch connection to PS3, Cat6 wire
AVISynth 2.5.8
CCCP Combined-Community-Codec-Pack-2008-09-21.exe
Set the FFDShow Audio Mixer to 3/0/2+LFE 5.1 channels

Here is what seems to be the appropriate log excerpt:

So, I'd love some assistance on settings, etc.

[Thread-124] DEBUG 11:04:30.363 AVS file format detected.
[Thread-123] DEBUG 11:04:30.379 Video stream is mandatory!

the avisynth script is in error... reproduce the issue, do not close pms and go check the script here:

C:\DOCUME~1\DAVIDM~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\1\javaps3media\pms-avs-Chain Reaction. { PG-13 }_ {V_}(17).mpg.avs

double click on it, it should display some kind of errors, or do not act as a normal video ...

#AviSynth script is now fully customisable !
#You must use the following variables ("clip" being the avisynth variable of the movie):
#clip=DirectShowSource("Z:\movies\action\Chain Reaction. { PG-13 }_ {V_}(17).mpg", convertfps=true): insert the complete DirectShowSource instruction [ clip=DirectShowSource(movie, convertfps) ]
##: insert the complete TextSub/VobSub instruction if there's any detected srt/sub/idx/ass subtitle file
#Z:\movies\action\Chain Reaction. { PG-13 }_ {V_}(17).mpg: variable of the movie filename, if you want to do all this by yourself
#Be careful, the custom script MUST return the clip object
clip=DirectShowSource("Z:\movies\action\Chain Reaction. { PG-13 }_ {V_}(17).mpg", convertfps=true)
#
return clip

When I tried to play it on the server, it fired up Windows Media Player classic and had this error:

Code: Select all
Cannot play back the audio stream: no audio hardware is available, or the hardware is not responding. (Error=80040256)

What do you see in this?

Using Avisynth/FFDshow. Paired with CoreAVC, it's quite efficient with multi cores.

How do I run Avisynth with with CoreAVC?
