I have the last 1.03 ps3mediaserver yes with 6.2 jre not 6.11, with this error found : Unable to retrieve MAC address for UUID creation: using a random one...

Installed last Java 1.6.0_11 from Sun Microsystems right now and no difference : Unable to retrieve MAC address for UUID creation: using a random one...

ps3 is detected and run but I have this error found on log file : Unable to retrieve MAC address for UUID creation: using a random one... whats wrong ?

Have you got the latest jre?

it's just a warning, don't worry... only impact is, when PMS will crash (hope it never will :p ), you will see two media servers (rather than the same reused) on XMB when you will relaunch pms

but .. my pc is being a bitch.

With the previous version ( 1.02 ) it all worked fine, but now it crashes everytime... but since noone has the same behaviour I'm sure it's the stupid PC's fault.


But your software is 100x better then anything around, so a million thanks !

I've been following this great project since Version 0.99 and was immensely glad with v1.02.1. Thanks for the great program that actually lives and grows. Anyway, it's great that there is a forum now.

Just updated to the new 1.03 from 1.02.1 havent yet done any testing of any kind just yet. THe thing that struck me and i am curious about is why is the buffer maximum size downsized from earlier 650mb to 600 in the 1.03 version? I was wishing for unlimited buffersize maximum (so every user can adjust to their own system) , since everyone is on different systems you can set a default low but with 16 GB ram i got plenty space for buffering and i wish to be able to use it =)
Looking forward to see how effective the support for my quadcore is, and how it will perform, i hope there wont be much need for a large buffer *lol*.
But mainly what is the reasoning behind the decision to downsize the maximum buffer size?

Might not be the problem, but when I upgraded my PS3 to Firmware 2.60 today, Iost contact to Mediaserver 1.03.
1.03.was working fine before the upgrade!

I tried all: reboot of Modem, Router, PC, Wireless and Firewall off, Network without success. The PS3 could not find the Media Server.

Switching back to older versions of PS3 Media Server worked. Now I am running 1.02.1.

Any Suggestions?
