can't update ps3 media server/copying transcoded (SOLVED)

Postby AidyD » Mon Feb 16, 2009 2:56 pm

i get the auto update option every time i load up the ms,

it downloads the update to 100%, then explains to me that 'for the download to work, the programme must be running'.

and if i press anything, it just quits it all, leaving me with the update again..

i know its not working because i can't copy transcoded files yet -

is this a known prob?

or does anyone know a soloution?

thanks for any help

Please don't ask here and try searching here about "94GB problem".
I don't have power to repeat it again and again ;)
But for sure it is not bug but feature...

Sorry meant to put in - re-installing the ms created a new problem.

In the update notes for the patch it stated that copy a file transcoded was now possible.

Although with mine I suddenly couldn't even copy any files regardless of being transcoded or not..

I posted this up within the week of the new patch, and didn't see any other threads with this problem - doing a search for '94gg problem'

would of no doubt ended with a lot of sifting to a problem that's clearly a result of the new patch - and the previous threads wouldn't be connected to this

instance due to the logic of time.

Thanks for the help anyway, I'l recheck the search function and see if i'v missed a thread or two on this.

What you missed is #### COPY #### folder and "Navigation/Share Settings" tab in PMS ;)

oh dear god..

who feels like a silly little sausage now then...

It was simply in the navigation settings......

noooo. A noobish answer to a noobish question...

Im just going to hobble off into the corner... and quietly weep into my hanky

THANK YOU exsport - saved me alot of time converting files!

*edit copying transcoded files is virtually pointless, due to crippling time constraints..

it would take a good 8 hours per movie on my set up - i wont go in to details but i can host games on ps3 lag free.

i can copy a full movie in 10 minutes normally too.

maybe there should be an FAQ on these little issues, i only found out about transcoding/copying times from searching exsports posts -

def a good addition though, look forward to the next patch!
