I've got a working PMS conf for you at :
http://87.211.184.49/pub/java/pms.zip

It is configured to work with a Sony Bravia 5710 tv but in the "renderers/obsulute" directory there are conf files for PS3 and Samsung etc.
When you've got trouble starting the mMS look into the PMS.conf (mine is spec. for the 5710) or start java -jar pms.jar, which sometimes helps.

I'm using ArchLinux and my PMS.conf file goes is located at /opt/pms/PMS.conf

And...just to add my 2 cents to this thread.
I'm also a headless linux user. Better conf docs would be nice.
I'm currently using this with my Xbox360, but would much rather use it with the DLNA
of my Samsung LN52A750, which has some pretty wonky codec quirks that I would have
to setup in the conf file.

After trying 1.01 PMS for linux, I decided to try the latest beta for linux.

I use Ubuntu lucid as the server. In the 1.01 releasefor linux the PMS.conf is located in the directory where I did the install. However, in the beta release I cannot find a PMS.conf. I have looked in the installation directory and the file system but still cant find the conf. Is the pms.conf now located in pms.jar??? If so, how do I edit the file?

I need to make changes to pms.conf to complete the installation of chocolate boy pmsencoder plugin. Anyone know where it resides in ubuntu lucid?

Does anybody have a PMS.conf that works running PMS from the command line? Even if they don't understand it?

Here's my config.. I can probably put some comments in it if you cant figure it out. Also, I still suggest people try using xforwarding w/ ssh (putty supports it, as do most ssh clients). You can then use the gui (it'll display on your local desktop). If you want to display it on your Windows desktop, you'll need to install an Xserver (Xming is a decent one).

Code: Select all
thumbnails = true
mencoder_ass = true
folders = \/data\/Shared,\/data\/Music
mencoder_audiosublangs = en,off;eng,off
autoloadsrt = false
mencoder_disablesubs = true
notranscode = avi,mp3,m2ts,ts
thumbnail_seek_pos = 15
mencoder_usepcm = false
mencoder_remux_ac3 = true
tsmuxer_forcefps = false
network_interface =
engines = mencoder,tsmuxer,mplayeraudio,ffmpegaudio,tsmuxeraudio,mencoderwebvideo,mplayerwebaudio,rawthumbs
mencoder_nooutofsync = false
mencoder_mux_compatible = true
use_mplayer_for_video_thumbs = true
mencoder_encode = keyint=1:vqscale=1:vqmin=2
embed_dts_in_pcm = true
forcetranscode =
hidevideosettings = false
hide_enginenames = true
chapter_support = false

So, I think this is an old post. But it is pertinent to me. I am running a headless freenas server with this, how do I setup xming so that it displays the gui on my windows machine?

Again, sorry to bump an old post, but if anyone needs all the config keys, just look at http://code.google.com/p/ps3mediaserver ... ation.java

A leading # seems to be sufficient to denote a comment.
