Choppy video playback help

Yeah, I hear ya. It kinda seems like alot of steps to get to the file and to play it......x yes, play, DOH, x yes, play, DOH, one more folder to go, DOH

But if you are new to media serving and never had the dubious honor of trying to get Tversity to play the same amount of files, trust me when I say this is much easier than messing with ffDShow settings, trying to get things working on the fly.

I am gonna look back on your Heroes MediaInfo and see if I can see something with regards to those files.

yea the one i sent you of heroes has audio info. When I play the file on my pc i have everything. On the ps3 not a dam thing loll.

You can knock down some folder steps by mapping folders to share as well, rather than just leaving the navigation the way it comes. I don't know if you have this done already, but it will eliminate many folder steps. The less folders, less time getting the file playing.

I am still trying to figure out your audio though.

I was thinking it had a dual audio track maybe....ie. a 5.1 track and a 2 channel track but not the case. Sometimes I think this can cause problems.

I am stumped.

Maybe check your tv episodes that work(assuming you have more tv episodes than Heroes)
against the ones that don't using MediaInfo. You might see something different in the audio section that stands out.

It might help, with compatibility issues or questions.

I don't know what to say. The two Heroes MP4's, one works, one don't, but I can't see a difference. I have them sitting side by side, unless I am blind and it is too early in the morning.

As far as what might be causing one to work and one not, I really have no clue. I have run into the problem of a random file that won't play (especially MP3 audio files) for no apparent reason. When it is a TV show I just go into the #transcode# folder and try one of those play options. I don't have to worry about subs being embedded as the files never have them, so I can always get the file to play in one way or another. And with movies, if one won't play, try another option in #transcode# folder. If no option but to have subs, I just use one of my extracting programs to make a version without subs.
MKV-Extract or Yamb. Or I use MKV2VOB, depends what I wanna do.

Between Tversity and PMS, on my setup, neither one is perfect, but PMS definitely reduces the number of files I have to manipluate to play.

Yeah, sorry man, don't know what to say about the random MP4's.

Hope I helped getting a few more of your other files to play though.

Yeah I hear ya. I am having same sort of issue with regards to certain mp3 files that will not play........for whatever reason. I can install them on PS3 won't work, download thru media server to PS3 HDD, won't work, even tried transferring from iPod onto PS3(they installed just same ones won't work) And nothing discernible between functioning ones and non.

I am not too worried about audio files as I have a 120GB iPod Classic I just plug in, and soon will get some docking bay/interface or something for it, but when it comes to vids, it is a little more interesting.

I too would like some help on this.
