The only proper way to create localization file is to use this utility software:

if you have the java runtime installed (and I guess you do :p), you just have to click this link. an editor window will appear.
paste your translated text into it, and save it into a properties files. Then the properties files should be OK (that's what I've done for japanese, and for a perfect result)
so if anyone has troubles with his language localization embedded in the application (I'm thinking about swedish, greek, finnish, etc.)
