Well, turns out it's due to some other things and not your build.

However, at first I thought this was either my imagination, or the fact it kept updating, but does the media cache not work? Each time it takes forever to load my files.

Thnx for the package, installed flawlessly. Didnt work tho :/ when starting pms from the icon, screen shows that PS3 is regognized "unknown renderer". PMS shows directories in ps3, but cant play anything :/

I just installed ubuntu 9.10 and all the updats to it, and after that followed your instructions to install. Any ideas what could be wrong ?

I managed to find out that mencoder wasnt found, so i added it via ubuntus synaptic, now it does not give any errors, but mkv wont play.

starting from terminal doesnt give any difference :/

log is attached.

Oh, and i think this doesnt concern the .deb package anymore, since i uninstalled and did some guides from this forum howto install pms .. Should i continue on some other thread ?)

EDIT: Ok i managed to get it working :) ia32libs was the thing.

Hmm, i think you mistaken in your installation ...
Normally if you install pms-linux from the apt installer, ... mplayer, mencoder, vlc, dcwraw and eventually tsmuxer are installed at the same time.
BTW, i don't see you attached log as you said before :!:
And if you're not using the .deb package ... i don't think that's the better posting in this thread ... even if we can give help :D

Could you please explain in details what was the thing about as I am experiencing more or less the same problem?
P.S. I wonder why I can play some cue files with flac and some not no matter what type of file cue is based on (flac or ape)?

Follow this topic viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1508 to install lastest versions.

Thank you paissad! You have done a great job.

At first I had an issue with MKV, but installed via repository and now it works :)

I just have one more question, which option in the PMS.conf will:

-Remove the '#--transcode--#' folders appearing on the PS3
-Remove the encoder to be used after filename

Thank you again!

add this option to you conf file --> hide_transcode_folder = true
echo "hide_transcode_folder = true" >> /etc/PMS.conf

Next time, start pms-linux via a terminal, you will obtain the GUI, do your settings and then save .... you will get a PMS.conf file in the same where you started pms-linux.
YOu will have a better idea about config options ;)

I had everything working great and instantly after using the .DEB package

I just had some issues with using PS3 Media Server in general... as in not having my subtitles show up on my .mkv files

So I was reading through a bunch of things and eventually some how ended up causing issues...

I'm using Ubuntu Server 9.10 and I installed the DEB within the past few days.

The server no longer shows up in my ps3 and at the command line
Code: Select all
$ sudo /etc/init.d/pms-linux restart
 * Stopping PS3 Media Server : pms-linux

Warning: pms-linux is already running !
Warning: pms-linux seems to have been started manually (not by the init.d script).

I receive this after rebooting my system...

Previously before rebooting I somehow got the "two trees" issue as previously stated and after rebooting I am now not seeing the server.

What did I do?!

Edited to add additional info:
So tinkering around to try and fix whatever I did I tried running "pms-linux" even though it already stated it was running above and not from init.d and got this
Code: Select all
$ pms-linux
GUI environment no available
Switching to console mode

The video does not play and the PS3 says "the data is corrupted." I know previously before messing this up that the file did in fact used to play...
