why is the advanced search disabled?

i request that i be able to use the (advanced) search system so that i don't ask questions that have already been answered and (hopefully) find what i want to know without having to trudge through topics that are are 30+ pages deep.

i click "Advanced search" and get this response

Sorry but you are not permitted to use the search system.

which i think is pretty lame...

Standard search will also fit your needs
About advanced search there was already started discussion in past...

ok, you cannot access the advanced search page, but if you want to handcraft the urls, it will work.
