you just have to replace mencoder_mt.exe inside the win32 folder with this one:

http://ps3mediaserver.googlecode.com/sv ... der_mt.exe

it's more recent, faster by a few percents (something like 3, maybe 4 % here), and more compatible with some m2ts
if nothing wrong happens, it will be included in 1.04

thanks

Speed is not my concern, stability is. And I watched Journey to the Center of the Earth with it yesterday, all highest quality and max bitrate, and it didn't crash for a change. :) Nor did I experience any xvid-like quality in dark spots or anything. It was, for lack of a better word, flawless.

Compiled for x86 CPU with extensions: MMX MMX2 3DNow 3DNowEx SSE SSE2

Why are SSE3, SSSE3, and SSE4 not supported?

I don't think there's any SSE3/4 optimized code in Mplayer yet (but I could be wrong)

Doesnt ffdshow support VC1?
I know Vista supports VC1 natively, as its a Microsoft codec

ffdshow, of course, supports VC-1 (but NOT interlaced VC-1 yet, btw; but it's slightly faster than wmv9). Vista, indeed, also supports VC-1. That's because wmv9 codec support is always present in Vista, as the Windows Media Player is built-in (unlike XP, where wmv9 support is only available if you download either the wmv9 package manually, or the Windows Media Player again).

Is PS3 Media Server 1.04 safe to install?

Are there any new known issues that were not in PS3 Media Server 1.03?

Just replace the .jar file and try it out, you can leave your .conf file in the directory.
If you find any issues just replace the new .jar with old backup.jar and off you go ;-)
If you find any issues please post it here, working like this we can all make it more stable.

Re: worse mencoder quality compared to pms 1.02 version

Postby mikele » Wed Feb 11, 2009 5:39 pm

Yes I use both for compare and I found some differences I think. pms1.02 mencoder version use more cpu power than 1.04 version without artifact on dark or black scenes like 1.04. I dont use mt version. not really sure about cpu power, I have some soft in same time... and this video is not badly encoded I think.
Please, tell us what's the differences -exactly- between mencoder from pms1.02 and pms1.04 ?
***************UPDATED*****************
I have Sony 46W3000, The best 1080p bravia engine processing in the world :D , this is may be why I see all bad details of this mencoder version

so , you are using the two versions, and when you switch those, you can actually see differences ? (just trying to know if your video is not badly encoded in the first place)
