I had the same problem. I was trying to install PS3 media server on Windows 7 64 bit, but I got error 1067 when trying to start the service. When I did what was suggested above, which was to uninstall the 64 bit version of java and install the 32 bit version, it worked perfectly and fixed the problem
Another thing to note is to install it as a service you have to right click "ps3 media server" in the start menu and choose "run as administrator".
