Subtitles- playing at wrong times

Hi,

I'm having a problem using subtitles (both .srt and .ass format) while playing back anything 720p or higher. The ps3 will play the file correctly just the subtitles will start in the wrong place, as if I started watching the movie from the middle. This happens with every HD movie (.mpg format) i've tried, but SD (.avi format files) play with subtitles perfectly.

It's not that the timing is wrong it's just the subtitles start in the completely wrong place on the PS3 although they work fine if playing the same file on the PC. Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this? Settings within the media player I should fiddle with etc?

I found out that it's a bug from the media server: when you have several movies and subtitles with similar names, it will not always get the correct subtitle.

For example in my case I had 4 videos and 4 subtitles:

Heroes.S03E03.720p.HDTV.X264-DIMENSION.mkv
Heroes.S03E03.720p.HDTV.X264-DIMENSION.srt
Heroes.S03E04.720p.HDTV.x264-CTU.mkv
Heroes.S03E04.720p.HDTV.X264-CTU.srt
Heroes.S03E05.720p.HDTV.x264-CTU.mkv
Heroes.S03E05.720p.HDTV.x264-CTU.srt
Heroes.S03E06.720p.HDTV.X264-DIMENSION.mkv
Heroes.S03E06.720p.HDTV.X264-DIMENSION.srt

When I tried to play the first three movies, it looked like the subtitles were out of sync, but in fact they were using the wrong file. The file Heroes.S03E03 was using Heroes.S03E04 subtitles, Heroes.S03E04 was using Heroes.S03E05 subtitles, and so on... The last one was not getting any subtitles.

When I play them in the computer, every single one is playing the correct subtitle, so my guess is it must be a ps3 media server bug.

The Workaround I found was, putting every single video and subtitle inside it's own folder. Using this workaround everything played fine until now for me.

This might be because of this bug.

Its been fixed in svn, I think.

Don't think so, because the folder I'm using has no dots.

Was I the only one having this problem?
