Official thread for non-ps3 renderers (Bravia, etc.)

Discuss alternative media renderers (not PS3) supported by PS3 Media Server (like Xbox 360 and TVs)

REW/FWD are already using low values since the first ps3ms versions, the delay is just applied on the start of the video

Many thanks for info. I think it is useful to add it to PS3.conf file commented so users will know this possibility but in default it will not be used 8-)

- mencoder (and avisynth/mencoder) will output MpegPS when TranscodeVideo=MPEGAC3 and MpegTS when TranscodeVideo=MPEGTSAC3
- tsmuxer will always output MpegTS (hence the programe name :p)

Hello,

I'm using PS3 MS (Mencoder) with an Samsung LE37B650 and everything is working fine, image and sound are great. Except the aspect ratio is in 4:3 (tall and slim image, borders on both sides) and I want it to be 16:9. I've tried everything I could find, the scale and expand commands. But nothing seems to work. So if you guys could help me out a bit, that would be great.

If you use the samsung.conf file it uses:
MaxVideoWidth=0
MaxVideoHeight=0
or you can use
##Max Width and Height supported by the media renderer (0=unlimited)
MaxVideoWidth=1920
MaxVideoHeight=1080
Both should work fine

I’ve created little patch, that adds image and video thumbnails to BRAVIA and maybe other renderers (uses some code from PMS “Rendr Edition”).
BRAVIA can show thumbnails (JPEG and PNG) with file size < 64kB, and PNG thumbnails with size <256x256 pixels, so I’ve cropped country codes .png files to 254x254 pixels and file sizes <64kB.
I’ve also added PMS icons with jpg format, to show as server icon (format and sizes required by DLNA specification).
Convert.exe (for windows) from ImageEdit package is required to image thumbnails.
Patch with icon set can be downloaded from here.

Hi,

I have the following configuration:
1. gigabit network (server + switch)
2. Dual Core 2.8Ghz + 4 GB RAM

When i start streaming 1080p video to Sony Bravia 46WE5 i can see that the transfer rate reaches 39000 kbps and stuttering happens.
So i have the following questions:
1. Is there kind of throughput limit in PS3 Media server (i don't mean the Maximum bandwidth in Mbits/s - it is set to 0, i thought more of java limitation or something like this)?
2. How to measure real speed of Bravia ethernet interface ? (I have seen in some posts (log excerpts): Estimated Bravia XXXXX ethernet speed is 46Mbits).

Do i have other options that will fit loseless 1080p quality in 38 Mbits (if it is Bravia limitation), eg. Use MPEG-TS or AVCHD ?

Thanks

I've tried both in the samsung.conf, but it's not working. Is there anything that could prevent this from working?

PS3 Server is the best available. However, I to have problems with stuttering when I play 1080 Mkv movies. I'm quite sure that it happens only with external subtitles. What are the best settings for 1080 streaming?
I have gigabit network, Bravia W5500, Server 2008 R2, Q6600, 8 gb ram.

Do you have this kind of problems on all files or just a particular one ?
Can you post your pms.conf, samsung.conf and debug.log.
