Need advice on movies covers :)

Postby Ashmodai » Thu Jan 22, 2009 6:44 pm

Would anybody be really kind and give me some advices on the best way to grab covers for a movie collection automatically. Ideal would be a software which takes a directory and based on the names of the file inside that directory go and pick the cover from a place like imdb ?
Thanks !!

I use MyMovies (get it here: http://www.mymovies.dk/ ) to rip (direct to .ISO), store and get covers etc. for all my DVD library
Yes, I know: MyMovies are not (yet) supported on PS3, but even that, it's a pretty nice piece of SW for handling your DVDs ;)
Best regards

Hi there,

Just to discuss the My Movies software.. I already have a lot of movies on y main PCs HD..

AM I right to say that My Movies will be identical to a ID3 tagger and album art locator - so when my PS3 loads up the details form my HD it will show the album wrap instead of the file name?

What i woudl liek to seem if at all possible, is instead of seeing the filename form the PS3 you see the poster instead? Can this be done?

Many thx

Benoit.

You can still use MY MOVIES to generate the folder.jpg cover art fo ryour films.. just point it to your archinve folder and let it loose.. fix the mismatches and there ya go.

I have an iMac, and use Delicious Library.
It utilises the iMac built-in iSight webcam, reads barcodes, and gathers information from amazon for all movies (DVD, Blu-Ray, etc) games (PC, X-Box, PS3, etc)
You can also add movies by name, the app will still pick up the cover, director, rating, synopsis, etc from amazon.
All these covers and details can then all be exported to html file.

I use these sites (in order of my preference):

http://www.getvideoartwork.com
http://www.impawards.com
http://www.cinemasterpieces.com
http://www.posterwire.com

And building on an idea that I saw here: http://ps3mediaserver.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=34&start=30#p2408 and a photoshop file I found here: http://manicho.deviantart.com/art/DVD-Plastic-Case-PSD-file-86546288 I made all of my covers to look like these:

I'll come back and post a link to my modified photoshop .PSD file later.
