XMB Video Type (DIVX & MPEG2)

Postby gmann001 » Tue Jul 28, 2009 1:34 pm

I was wondering if anybody would know why some of my movies are tagged as DIVX (within the XMB) and some have the little MPEG2 graphic tag in the PS3 XMB.

I used the same software (settings, pc, etc) to bring all of my DVD's onto my system, but yet some display as one type and others the other type.

All files play on the PC without issue (and even have the little DIVX watermark at the beginning of the movie), but when played through my PS3, only the movies with the DIVX graphic tag will play. The movies with the MPEG2 come up as Unsupported Data Type.

Thoughts?

I want to add that if I restart my PS3, a different set of movies then indicate MPEG2 type and the ones that initially showed MPEG2 now display DIVX (and work). Is that a PS3 thing or Media Server thing?

Am I the only one with this issue? It's just randomly setting the movies as DIVX or MPEG-2 (even though they are all DIVX)
