[SOLVED] media library database empty

Postby DePingus » Sun Aug 02, 2009 12:26 am

Hey good folks at PMS,

I've spent a couple of days trying to figure this out but no dice.
The "#- Media Library -#" is empty. Videos play just fine on the 360 because it navigates through the folders to get to the files. But unfortunately music relies on the media library (id3 tags and what not).

When I do a "Reset Media Library" from the GUI the debug log says:
Code: Select all
[AWT-EventQueue-0] INFO  23:52:32.840 Database will be (re)initialized
[AWT-EventQueue-0] INFO  23:52:32.967 Database initialized

Here's my PMS.conf
Code: Select all
thumbnails = true
mencoder_ass = true
folders = \/home\/depingus\/shared\/movies,\/home\/depingus\/shared\/music
usecache = true

I'm running ArchLinux, all packages completely updated (it uses a rolling release model). I use sudo to start PMS v1.10.5 on a headless server forwarding X though SSH to a remote laptop.

Adding to the confusion, when I tried this yesterday it seemed to work ok. But this morning I noticed I was missing a ton of songs from my the library. So I re-installed and thats when this train wrecked for me.

I've completely removed and reinstalled from scratch several times (with and without "sudo rm -r /opt/pms"), but the Media Library will not populate. I am using an both an Xbox360 and a Samsung LN52A750. When I browse to the #- Media Library -# folder that pms creates and go into any subfolder (ie "All Audio Tracks") it is empty (same prob on both clients). I've tried removing the apostrophe ( ' ) character from all folder names. I've tried sharing only 1 folder.

I'm out of ideas.
Any suggestions?

Did you click on the magnifying glass icon to get PMS to scan your folders?
