ext usb hdd not found

Postby onlyme » Tue Jul 21, 2009 2:11 am

Mac Mini 2.0GB Core 2 Duo
OSX 10.5.7
PS3 Media Server 1.20
WD My Book 500GB USB External HDD

Under the Navigation/Share Settings tab in PS3MS, I'm attempting to add the folder that contains all of my music to the shared folders list, but have been unable to. When I select the "+" button over the shared folders text box, I can't access/find the My Book ext HDD. There is a location for the Macintosh HD, but not for the My Book ext HDD.

Anyone have any tips??

Thanks!!

Well, after 3 days of looking, and posting up on here, I found it. I look dumb now, but hopefully this will help some one else.

Look in the Macintosh HD folder, and under the volumes folder, you will find the My Book ext HDD.

Thanks for the follow up.

Many programs that rely on the unix side of things (i.e. PMS) work in this way. You browse the root directory (which on Mac OS X is named after your main disk) then you find a folder called Volumes in which all the mounted volumes are listed (including removable media like DVDs).
