Slow seek time

Postby robotpriest » Wed Jun 17, 2009 3:06 am

I upgraded to PS3MS from TwonkyVision, and PS3MS smokes it in every way except for one - seek speed. Twonky can seek at 120x no prob, but PS3MS has trouble with 10x speed on my octo-mac. I see its listed as a known issue in the app itself under Readme, but it's not there in the known issues thread.

Is this still under development, or is it a Mac specific issue?

Thx!

you talk about streamed files, and not transcoded ones, do you ?
the http engine has been reshaped in the latest betas, if you want to try it, maybe it will be better from this aspect

Robot, let me add two things;

1) get beta r344 from this thread.

2) make sure you are not transcoding the files that have this "slow seek." Make sure you are instead streaming them (assuming they can be steamed, as with most .avi, .mpg etc) You can do this by adding "avi,divx" etc to the option "skip transcode for the following options" under the Transcoding tab, and Common Transcode Settings section. FWIW, I added "divx,avi,mpg,mp4,m4v,m2ts" (no quotes) to my skip field, and "mkv,wmv" to my force transcode field.
