External Subs will never Show

Postby Jaketeck » Mon Jan 26, 2009 8:02 pm

Internal Subs selected from the Transcoded folder show perfectly fine.

External subs from .srt for example will not show up. PS3MS will show {Subtitles found} when .srt files are placed in the same folder. However I cannot ever get the subtitles to show up on the PS3. I have tried multiple movies(Xvid format) with no luck. These movies play back perfectly on my computer with the .srt files and subs are displayed on my computer.

Computer Specs:
Q6700
4 GB DDRII @ 800
Windows XP Pro 32-bit (Legit)
GeForce 8800 GT

Can someone please give me a teaspoon-step-by-step how to setup this?

I have used DVD Decrypter, selected two subtitle (english and norwegian) and the original soundtrack from the DVD, the files wassaved again as their original format in VOB and so on.

What do i need to do in PS3MS? When i play a vob-stream on PS3 and i use the option button to get the menu, select subtitle it gives me the message "no subtitle available".

What am i missing out here?

Frankie -

I could be wrong but I think I can clear up your issue. When you press "Triangle" and bring up sub options this is where no sub options are present correct? When you go to play the ISO or TS_Video folder there should be a #--TRANSCODED--# folder. That folder will have a break down of different Audio channels and subtitle tracks. ie {5.1 Eng}{Fre Subs} for English with French subs or {Eng 5.1}* for English with no subs.

Jaketeck: Thank you very much for your info, i really appreciate this. I will give your suggestion a try. But if i understood you correctly, PMS will creat TRANSCODED-folder and when i play in this folder i should get my subtitle when i choose so from the option menu?

I am having the same problem. I have an avi file with a .sub file with the same name. I have the option "Autoload *.srt/*.sub subtitles with the same file name" checked, but the subtitle doesn't show. Can someone explain in details how we can get external .sub file to work? Thank you very much.

I had this issue too, recently, and I got external subs to work again by disabling VSFilter autoload in Haali media splitter. Not sure why that made things work, but suddenly my external subs showed up again. :) Be sure to restart PMS, though.
Gorgeous, delicious, deculture!
