Streaming problems (ehternet)

Postby nugget » Tue Jun 09, 2009 9:26 am

1- your computer specs (cpu, memory) and the precise server version you're using
E8500 (stock) 4gb of RAM Vista 64.
2- the network connection you are using for streaming your files (wifi, homeplugs, ethernet 100Mbits, or gigabit)
Ethernet
3- detailed infos on what's not working
When watching the video stops and the audio catches up or the whole thing just stops working. The bitrate is around 1-2.5mb. I use to have the same problem over wireless and thought the ethernet would fix it but it didnt.
4- if you're transcoding some videos, which engine are you using ? (mencoder, avisynth/mencoder, tsmuxer)
I think its MEncoder.
5- a debug.log file excerpt, or you can zip the whole file. this file can be found in the application directory, or if you have UAC and Vista activated, likely found in the Windows temp directory

what do you mean stops working? Does it freeze?
How do you connect your computer with you PS3? Through a router? Using 100M Ethernet?
Another thing to check. While streaming the movie check the buffer in the PSM console.
If the buffer is not empty during the time that the movie is started getting corrupted it is your network.
Otherwise it is the computer somehow.

Also what type of movie is this? HD or SD?

Yeah it freezes then i get a ps3 error 80710723 and it either kicks back to the xmb or the movie restarts.

They are both connected to my router through ethernet at 100mbit. (PS3 is set as DMZ so all ports are open).

Movie is SD.

Just tried a 720p movie that i have and it got to 10mbs with no problems with the stream it was .mkv if that makes any difference. So i suspect its something wrong with the actual movie.

Why do you have your ps3 on DMZ. If both your PC (PSM) and your PS3 are connected to the router using wired (or wireless) connections you do not have to put the PS3 on DMZ. When using PS3 with specific games (such as Pro Evolution Soccer) that requires an open port, it is much better to do port forwarding than doing PSM.

What kind of video is the problematic one? divx in an avi?

Try putting the PS3 in an non-DMZ state and see if it is replicated.
