PS3 Media Server 1.40.0 Beta 2 is released

General:

Built from SVN r813 (OSX version from r812).
Released as beta because many code changes haven't been widely tested yet.
People have been testing the SubJunk Build, but I have so many things in there right now that aren't in the official trunk so the testing doesn't apply to the trunk as much as it usually does.
This will hopefully give us a more trustworthy idea.

Upgrade Notes:

For 1.23.0 and above:

• Just uninstall the older version and install newer one

For versions prior to 1.23.0:

• To retain your old settings you may have to copy your old config file/s to a new directory.
  To find out where the new directory is on your computer, run the program and go to the Traces tab and look on the 14th line, the line that says "Profile directory:", that is the folder your config files should be saved now.
• If you use the "media library / cache" option you should reset it.

When i update my ps3 media server to this beta 2 version,
he was unable to find my ps3.. =( ( When i go back to the stable version it atomaticly find my ps3 again.. )

what is going wrong can someone help me?
because i have a Samsung TV model SEC_HHP_TV, and i wanted to test it,

You may want to check under the "General Configuration" tab, under Network Settings, and see if you are forcing a networking interface that is not in use. I find that I have to select the network interface I am using otherwise it will not find my PS3. I have to pick my network card and leave the rest blank.

I've read the release notes, but added support for hand helds and renders isn't enough for me to switch. Does this beta have any Windows related code enhancements compared to 1.31 beta 1?

Hey everyone not sure if this is the correct place for this post as im using the latest beta build 1.40.0-b2 (admins please move if this is the case)

Anyways when transcoding a video after about 1-2 minutes the playback stops and gives me an error.

Error:
Unplayable content status code 69-c00d36b3

its almost like the video isnt being transcoded fast enough or something

I tested this out with an AVI and an MKV with the same result (I have specific settings for MKVs in MENCODER but nothing for AVI's)

This has only started happening after upgrading to 1.40.0 (will uninstall and install the release version 1.30.0 to check if this fixes it) I had a string of problems leading up to this, using 1.25 my settings werent saving when exiting the program, I upgraded to 1.30.0 which worked for a time then started getting the media renderer not detected issue which i resolved by installing the 1.40.0. beta which leads me to where i am now.

currently running windows 7x64 with a core i7 and 6 gig ram, my renderer is an xbox360

heres my additional mencoder settings
container == matroska && framerate == 30 :: -fps 25 -ofps 25
container == matroska && framerate == 29.97 :: -fps 25 -ofps 25
(as you can probs guess its to fix audio sync issues with particular files)

other than that everything is set to defaults

in the meantime will revert back to 1.30 and see if it fixes this.


*update*

reverting back to 1.30.0 fixed this issue, I also noticed the transcode buffer status bar wasnt filling anywhere near as quickly on 1.40.0 as it is on 1.30.0 all settings are exactly the same between builds.

Cool, now I can even see content of iPhoto Library. Very good software. I have a PS3 and a Samsung TV. Fits perfect together.
