View .dvr-ms files from Vista HTPC via Mac to PS3

Postby CJSMelb » Tue Sep 29, 2009 1:50 pm

I have just setup PMS and can see the PS3 nicely from my iMAC. And the PS3 can see the Mac OK.
So far so good.
I have an external hard drive full of video files created on a VISTA Media Centre PC - hence all have .dvr-ms extensions
This hard drive is connected via USB to my iMac
The PS3 can see the external drive and the folders, but does not see the media files therein
I gather from reading around that the PS3 cannot read these file types - perhaps that is the problem.

My questions are:
Is my understanding about PS3 and .dvr-ms correct?
If so does PMS support any form of file conversion such that the PS3 can read them? And if so how can I configure it to do so - nothing seems obvious?
If it does not carry out the conversion then I suppose I will need to do it myself. Anyone able to recommend software that would do this?
What is a good file format to go for, if converting?

Apols if these are dumb questions - a bit new to all this. Any advice appreciated.

.dvr-ms are supported only with a Windows server, sorry. There's a specific transcoder for these, built only for Windows
