Double subtitles

Postby jenda_groovy » Sun May 18, 2014 9:41 pm

when using ASS subtitles, my TV was rendering double subtitles, one of them in ASS styling, the other plain text.

I tracked the problem down to this patch:

Code: Select all
diff --git a/src/main/java/net/pms/encoders/ b/src/main/java/net/pms/encoders/
index 0612786..1e100e9 100644

+++ b/src/main/java/net/pms/encoders/

                String globalMencoderOptions = configuration.getMencoderCustomOptions(); // default: empty string

                if (params.mediaRenderer.isPadVideoWithBlackBordersTo169AR()) {
-                       rendererMencoderOptions += " -vf softskip,expand=::::1:16/9:4";
+                       rendererMencoderOptions += " -vf softskip,expand=::::0:16/9:4";
                String combinedCustomOptions = defaultString(globalMencoderOptions)

This fixed my problem, but I am unable to guarantee it doesn't break anything else as I have very shallow knowledge of the application and used technologies. Can somebody please look at it ?

The renderer is Panasonic Viera tx-l42e6e
