No renderers were found

Postby happiehappie » Fri Apr 19, 2013 2:17 pm

New user, Downloaded 1.8 last week. Worked fine until 2 days ago. The status just gave a big red cross saying no renderers found. I'm using the base rMBP

I want to point out that, the strange this is. I tried shutting down my Mac. Take out my ex computer(Dell Inspiron), download PMS 1.8 and it worked. So I wonder is this some settings on my side as an issue or? (I checked the General settings, both computer's settings are EXACTLY the same)

I really hope I can get this working, any help would be appreaciated.

Code: Select all
java.net.SocketException: Can't assign requested address

You have forced IP address which doesn't exists on your system. If you are using DHCP with dynamicky assigned IP, choose network adapter manually without forcing any IP.

Sorry I'm kind of a noob, do you mean select one of the options in Force networking on interface? If that is your answer I tried all 3 but it is the same.

And yea I am using DHCP with dynamic assigned IP

happiehappie I had the same problem and know next to nothing about networks and IP addresses etc.. However I was able to cure the problem.

In PMS I clicked on the "General Configuration" tab, went to the "Force Networking" in interface drop down menu and chose the option en0. Then clicked on Save. Quit PMS and restarted. The Tv was on at the time I was doing this and it worked. To me it is magic :-) .

Thanks to ExSport for the clue and for the developers for the application. My new TV is DLNA compliant and with PMS i can now watch all formats streamed from my Mac and no longer have to convert mkv files to an iTunes compatible format.

Did you remember to Save after you made the change? I did that, Quit and then restarted.

Edit: It worked for a while but no longer works. Sorry. The search continues.

Weird but I found that when I open PMS it does not find renderers but if I then just click on Restart Server it finds one immediately.

doesn't work, like I said I have a Inspiron beside me with the exact same settings but it worked instead. In my Macs case, it has been working fine up till 2 days ago. Sigh

Seems like a lot of people are having this issue... I figured out a way around it, see my forum post here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=16638&p=78617#p78617

Hope this helps.

Post screenshot from PMS GUI with your network configuration or your PMS.conf file.
