Can't seem to connect

Postby elwood » Sat Oct 20, 2012 8:59 pm

This all used to work fine. Only thing that happened between then and now is my internet wnet down and Verizon had to come replace the power supply in my home. None of the router settings changed. My main computer is 192.168.1.2 and I opened the ports for 5001 and 1900.

The PS3 is on and media server is on.
I cleaned out ALL port forwarding for 192.168.1.2 and just added in the 5001 and 1900.

Here is my log...

I have read the before/after UPnP doc and still can't seem tom make anything work.

What else can I try?
I am on Lion 10.7.5

Until just now I would get " the server should now appear on your renderer, but there is no check matk on main PMS screen rather a big red x, and of course nothing appears on the PS3.

Thanke...elwood

The logfile tells you what the problem is:

ok so I ran netstat in Network utility for 192.168.1.2 (my desktop) and it reported nothing on 1900

and 5001 said...

Open TCP Port: 5001 commplex-link

but remember I opened 5001 for OMS.

Still confused. Not sure why it doesn't work, and though I'm anything but a newb at Mac, this is a little complex...thanks for your patience

As indicated, an application is most likely already using that port on your Mac (it may be another instance of PMS, or EyeTV, both of which are covered in the FAQ). If used correctly, netstat should identify (i.e. show the command that launched) that application.

Note: you're looking for a UDP (--udp or -u), rather than a TCP (--tcp or -t), connection.

ok i have my port forwarding on my desktop set to both,

I don't run eye tv. U will try rebooting to see what happens.
The other day I was getting the "The server should now appear on your renderer" and no port 1900 issues , but still couldn't connect. As you can tell, this is frustration becuse it ran fine a few weeks ago.

Did you try this?

That did it! Don't even know what that is (IGMP) and I certainly didn't turn it one.

In any case thanks for your help and patience!!
