PS3 can't connect to my iMac

Postby Kramer » Tue Mar 31, 2009 7:43 pm

Hello,
I have an iMac with Mac OS X 10.5.6. I installed PS3 Media Server but when I try to connect the PS3 it doesn't recognize it. I have to mention that on XP, it worked the first time I tried. I guess something is blocking me, because in XP the firewall asks if I want to unblock the program, in OS X it doesn't. Can anyone help me?

Try forcing the IP address of your MAC... Worked for me.

I had this problem too, and solved it with this method...

to elaborate and make it easy for future reference he are the exact steps:

1) go into system prefrences and open network
2) take note of your ip adress located just above network name
3) in media server open the general configuration tab
4) type you ip address in the force ip of the server box

I had the same issue and the resolution was even easier than the ones listed here.

1) Click on "General Configuration" tab
2) Under "Force Networking on Interface" select 'en1' which is generally the default network interface

Let me know if that works.

I am having the same trouble and the solutions mentioned here have not worked from both my Intel iMac and MacBook Pro.

I have forced my adapter to en1 (both systems are using WiFi), forced my IP address to that of the PS3, forced both simultaneously, bypassed the OS X firewall, forced port 5100 on my router to the IP address of my PS3, and prayed to Allah and Mohammed whilst facing toward Mecca. Nothing seems to work.
