Best version of PMS for Mac OSX 10.6.8?

Having major problems with most of the channels in PMS and PMSencoder regarding java versions and restrictions due to lack of OSX support.
Currently running version 1.50.1 of PMS and PMSencoder 1.5.12

Anyone out there who knows which version of the above that will work best with OSX 10.6.8?

A thought was to use the encoders from an earlier version of PMS but seems that the files need to be executable by Terminal(exec)
the files i download is in text format for some reason.
