Make sure you're using a Media RSS feed e.g.:

Code: Select all
videofeed.Web,TED=http://feeds.feedburner.com/tedtalks_video

If that doesn't work, then: http://github.com/chocolateboy/pmsencoder#Help

I have been having problems streaming HD Youtube videos using PMSEncoder for a long while now.

At one point I had it working, but at some point it stopped working properly.

I am currently running PMS v1.20.412 and PMSEncoder v1.1.0

My PMS.conf looks like this:

Code: Select all
engines = pmsencoder,mencoder,tsmuxer,ffmpegaudio,mplayeraudio,mencoderwebvideo
thumbnails = true
alternativeffmpegpath = C:\\Program Files (x86)\\PS3 Media Server\\win32\\dvrms\\ffmpeg_MPGMUX.exe
mencoder_ass = true
minimized = true
folders = E:\\Videos,C:\\Music
hidevideosettings = true
http_engine_v2 = false
hide_transcode_folder = true
prevents_sleep_mode = true

In my web.conf I have the following entry:

Code: Select all
videofeed.Web,Youtube,HuskyStarcraft=http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/videos?max-results=50&orderby=published&author=HuskyStarcraft&fmt=22

The playlist content shows up 100% fine, but when I select a video to start streaming, it begins playing the video faster than 100% speed. If I had to guess, I'd say it's sped up by 40-50%. Eventually after about 30 seconds or so of playtime, it stops for a couple seconds, then starts the video again, and repeats this process throughout the rest of the duration. Bandwidth is not a problem for me. These videos used to play at normal speed and have no problems streaming at all.

Anyone have any ideas?

Are you sure it's faster? The video plays at the same (fast) speed for me in PMS, MPlayer and on YouTube.

The video is being transcoded from MPEG-4 AVC to MPEG-2, so make sure your setup is fast enough. You can pause the videos at the beginning to let them buffer to reduce pauses. Or you can pull a smaller, lower resolution video from YouTube. (I'm no longer using 1.1.0, so you'll have to wait till the next version of PMSEncoder is released if you want help with this.)

A future version of PMSEncoder may allow MP4s like this to be streamed without transcoding, but I haven't got that working yet.

This issue has come up before (it's always StarCraft videos, for some reason):

I'm getting the pmsencoder.conf not found message in my traces. Looking for groovy this, something that. I'm searching but given the videos seem to work when played back, pmsencoder is found, etc., not sure what to make of these messages.

I am impressed with pmsencoder. And if I understand correctly these conf error messages will be taken care of in next release?

@chocolateboy

Is there anyway to configure the location of the pmsencoder.log file?
I would like to put in my /var/log/pms-linux/ folder where I am putting my debug.log file.

Regards

I can add an option for that.
