Prevent OS from sleeping not working?

Postby probedb » Sun Nov 28, 2010 10:13 pm

Hi,

I keep getting:

"[Thread-13] INFO 13:19:33.378 Error while sending periodic alive message: sleep interrupted"

messages in the debug and have 'Prevent OS from sleeping while streaming' checked.

I think maybe the HDDs are spinning down but PMS isn't preventing this.

Is there anyway to stop this?

Cheers.
Paul.

*Bump*

Sorry for the bump, I'm having the same problem also. Have also checked "prevent OS from sleeping while streaming". Each time this happens I'm having to send a WOL. Very annoying indeed.

LOL good for you.
It seems the problem is with Win 7 x64 versions only. see viewtopic.php?f=6&t=6412
I wonder if there's gonna be a solution soon...

I wrote a simple program that I installed as a service that keeps pinging PS3 every minute. If PS3 is active, then the program signals Windows to not enter sleep mode. When it cannot ping PS3, it sends a normal signal to Windows that starts Windows idle timer.

Works perfect.

Thanks for sharing that.....errrr....I mean thanks for telling everyone about it, then not posting it, or uploading it to a file sharing site

I dont need it, but I am sure many people would be interested. ;)

I think probedb would be interested.....he seems to keep posting about this !playon HD. It might settle him down a little...lol :)

PM'ed you the following as well
----------------------------------------------------------

Sorry, I never logged back in to see if someone was really interested.

Here is the link to the setup that will install it as a Windows Service called "Prevent Sleep".
http://www.4shared.com/file/ObQx4iUc/PS ... Sleep.html

After you install it, go to: "C:\Program Files (x86)\SumitSoft\PreventSleep" and edit the PreventSleep.exe.config file. Under the IPAddressList key, add the IP address(es) of the devices that if running should prevent your PS3 Media Server computer from going to sleep.

This comes with non warranties and if someone really needs a source code, I can provide it too. It is a .Net application that requires .Net framework 2.0 that all windows machines should have.

Sorry again and hope this helps someone in need!

Also you might need to initially start the service first.

Let me know if anyone runs into any issues.
