Lagging video problem (network?)

Postby spott » Thu Feb 19, 2009 7:28 am

Hey Guys.
I experienced a little lag when I stream video through the PS3 Media Server. The problem happens when an 720p in TsMuxer-mode video requires about ~ 15-20 Mb/sec - I really do not understand.

Connection from the PS3 to the network are: 55% (wireless)
My PC is connected to the network via cable.

PC Specs:
Intel Core2Duo E8400 3.0 GHz
GeForce 9800 GTX
2 x 2GB Kingston PC2-6400 (400Mhz)
Harddrive is 750gb Samsung 32mb cache 7200rpm

Vista Score: 5.6
5.9 in all categories except processor = 5.6

Are there any of you can see what the problem might be?
- Is the CPU or the wireless connection from PS3'en not good enough?

15Mbit and more is little bit unstreamable via WIFI. Theoretical WIFI throughput is 54Mbit but maximum is 10-15Mbit so now you know why it shutters when peak bitrate is higher than 10-15Mbits ;)

Most probably the wireless. My server got lower specs than yours, yet there's no stutter, because both ends are wired via 1000mbit :) If you absolutely can't go wire then you could mess with the keyint, vqmax and vqmin settings, at the cost of CPU and perhaps quality
