I know for sure that "this grainy effect" does indeed slow down the transcoding process. I got a trailer from surfer's dude with the same noisy/blurry effect, and I need a core2duo to play this (some others 1080p are easier)
you can mux it with the tsMuxer engine, instead of transcoding it

Awesome! I used that program and I played it back on the PS3 much smooter, however there was no sound. It is encoded in DTS audio, would that be a problem? I noticed it gave me an error when I added the file to the tsMuxer engine, said something along the lines of 'Track could not be added from this file'. Am I missing something here?

What gets me is that it did all that in 2-3 mins but the PS3 Media Server with a 5 minute head start couldn't do. It's all a little over my head, just seems odd.

DTS can't be streamed to PS3. So if tsMuxeR muxes video+dts, you will see only video.
Wait for new version which with a hack can stream DTS or set in PMS to recode DTS to AC3 ;)

But when I play it on the computer I hear no sound either. It seems like it won't demux the audio too.

Wait for the next version, real time muxing and DTS output will be seamless...
