Choppy video playback help

Your prob file again has a high framerate of 29.970.

I am leaning in this direction, unless someone more experienced in this forum has another opinion. I don't wanna mislead CIRRUS if I am wrong.

If you could post back later with those MKV's that are causing grief as well that might solidify this theory then maybe someone more than me can help.

This one appears to have a standard framerate. SO, I don't know what to say now. But I will try and do some more research.

EDIT: sorry didn't see second mkv and you pointing that out.

I just noticed my network is fine. My CPU is at 100% Mencoder is killing me. This is when I played my mkv file and its choppy. How can I stop this? Also the funny thing is my tv shows dont lag as much if i play them from inside that #--TRANSCODE--# folder. How can i shutdown the mencoder

try using just the tsmuxer file. With the MKV it SHOULD be an option. I find TSMuxer is less taxing on my system and no noticeable quality difference. You won't get subs, but if not needed, then this may be an other option for you to play with.

The MKV's need some sort of transcode as they are not native, but in my opinion, I find the tsMuxer file the less demanding. Give that a shot.

Also both choppy MKV's are DTS and that can really tax your system as well, driving up your CPU readings. I am unsure about how to mess with the DTS as I try to avoid files with it or I can extract the DTS with a program and re-encode back to ac3 or something a little less demanding. (I don't have a DTS receiver as of yet so....or receiver at all, so I try to avoid when I can).

Whats funny is that when I go into this folder #--TRANSCODE--# then go to the Sherlock Holmes.MKV folder and play the {TsMuxer] everything plays great. This is just for the videos since its MKV. Any idea why?

same thing for the .MP4 tv shows. I go to #--TRANSCODE--# then Heroes Genesis folder, then play the Heroes Genesis.mp4 file in there and its perfect. But it is not a TsMuxer file

As far as why the difference, I am not quite sure. I don't quite fully understand all the workings of Mencoder or tsMuxer, or even PS3MS totally. That might be a better question for meskibob or shagrath.

I just saw that you have pretty much the same network layout as I have and thought I could suggest what works for me. When it comes to scriting with aviSynth or stuff like that .

So you can get these files to work with tsMuxer if needed? Keep trying your various files and let me know.

i tried all mkv files and so far so good. Even the tv shows are working but I have to go through 15 steps to get the movies to play lolll. Also the only thing i can figure out is why heroes season 4 has no audio but when i play the orignal file theres sound. Any Idea?
