Looks like you are having the same problem reported in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=355

Try upgrading your MPlayer/mencoder installation (see https://launchpad.net/~rvm/+archive/ppa)

I'm sorry guys, but I cant see the solution the web page you link to. Or in other words - I'm really new to Linux and dont get it!
Am I supposed to install all the packages listed at the bottom there or what? Do I need to install that launchpad stuff to get a hold of the packages?
The only thing I know for sure is that I get crazy of getting my center channel sound out of my right surround speaker.....
Could someone help me with some install/update guide?

@Drag0nFly

Thanks, it worked

@liaanerud

You go to this site
https://launchpad.net/~rvm/+archive/mplayer

Get the line to your system to add the ppa to your repository

Ex: if it's Ubuntu 8.04, Hardy;
Its this line:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/rvm/mplayer/ubuntu hardy main
If it's Intrepid (8.10)
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/rvm/mplayer/ubuntu intrepid main

And so on.

Open the Synaptic (System -> Administration -> Synaptic)
go to Settings -> Repositories -> Third Party Software -> Add
And paste the line in there.

Then click on the "Reload" Button, look for the mplayer package, it will have a update. update it (or update everything)
