Playing Mpeg1

Postby muller » Sun Feb 08, 2009 9:03 pm

Installed the software today and I'm very impressed to say the least, but I have a quick question...

When looking at certain files on my PS3, it doesn't seem to be able to play any files that have "MPEG1" underneath them. In the same folder, if a file has "DivX" under it it plays perfectly. Most files seem to be AVI's but the PS3 seems to pick either "MPEG1" or "DivX" to display underneath each video file and I can't seem to figure out why.

I've noticed I can play the "MPEG1" files by trans-coding them, but my question is this:

How does the PS3 determine what files are played as DivX or MPEG1 and is there a way for me to set this so all video files play in DivX? If not, is trans-coding the only way to play these files?

Thanks folks! Hope this makes sense...
