Mencoder video scaler doesn't work

Hi,

Hope I get an answer by creating a topic since I've been asking this question for a while now and while I tend to use Avisynth/Coreavc or apply the overscan solution when transcoding - it just bugs me that I can't force Mencoder to transcode my videos into 16:10 format.

The previous versions of PMS (0.99-1.00) accepted a -vf scale command line when transcoding via Mencoder. I've tried to apply that command on 1.02-1.04 and also tried to use the video scale box on Mencoder and it just doesn't work.

Any help would be appreciated.

Do I have to email admin for help? Anyway if someone wants to help, here are my specs:

Pentium(R) D 2.80GHz
1 gb of RAM
Running on Wireless 10mbps
27" JVC iArt SDTV

Tried video scaler option on Mencoder - doesn't change aspect ratio. Used, -vf scale and -vf dsize commands - it doesn't work at all since 1.02-latest (worked before on 0.99-1.00). Using Overscan option at the moment -vf expand=-40:-40:25:25.

Debug log only shows this:

please remember we are helping on our free time

the custom options haven't changes since the beginning, you can always apply a -vf scale, but that command does not change aspect ratio
and your debug.log is rather short, if it was stopping there, you couldn't play any video at all

I know you guys are doing this for free and while it is appreciated, I asked this question on the avforum board close to a month already and haven't received any answers or solutions at all. It had to take me being facetious to get a short reply here which I had to resort to.

The -vf scale command is still working for me when I use 1.00 and have only encountered this problem as I've stated when I upgraded first to 1.02 up to the present. Avisynth's LanczosResize command works - it's just mind boggling to me that mencoder's forced scale stopped working for me.

Can't do anything in regards to the debug.log being short - that's the only data appearing as of an hour ago.

ok you want to use -vf scale with avisynth ? indeed I disabled mencoder custom options with avisynth usage because I think it's the Avisynth purpose to apply special effects to the video like rescale, denoise, etc., and not mencoder anymore. in fact I will maybe completely separate the 2 engines in the future

Thanks for the reply, Shagrath. Hopefully it happens in the next update since I probably have to use 1.00 and 1.04 together now since I saw the answer you gave me.
