DLNA protocol error with PS3 Media Server

Postby tmt » Tue Feb 03, 2009 9:07 pm

Hey all,

my PS3 is giving me DLNA protocol errors. These errors occur either when I try to browse the server via PS3, or start the stream aka try to watch something.
This happens approximitely 70% of the times I try to use the server, if not more.
I try to run the server on freshly booted system, with nothing else than anti-virus (and the server) started.
The instructions I found via Google about the error message didnt help.

The exact error message is "A DLNA protocol error (2006) has occured".

Here's my setup which I'm running PS3 Media Server on:

Inter Core 2 Duo E6750 @ 2.66Ghz
4GB RAM
Windows Vista Enterprise 32bit with SP1
D-Link DWL-G122 Wireless USB network adapter
D-Link DI-524 Wireless Router
PS3 is 80GB version with System Software version 2.60, connected to WLAN

Any ideas what could cause this?

Thanks in advance

Poor Wireless? Try cable, it will answer your possible problem with Wifi...

Don't know what this error message mean but I know some Wireless connections which are totally unstable with packet losts due to collisions between another wireless networks and collisions between B a G shared frequencies 8-)

On a D-link gaming router DGL-4300 and I also get this at times. Gonna try wired and see if it goes away. Probably the wireless interference with other networks.

For now it seems that the problem was within my WLAN.
There are several (atleast 4-5) decent signaled WLANs found in the area, so I guess those were interfering with the signal.
When PS3 is connected to router via RJ-45, everything seems to work as it should.

I'll get back to you with more information if the error appears again.

Thanks from the tips.

Maybe you could change to a wlan chan that is less busy 1,6,11 are the most commonly used chan's as they are further apart in respect to frequency i.e if your on chan 11 and it is busy, try chan 6 or 1, I had a lot of probs when I first got my ps3 (when using WLAN) as me and 2 neighbours were on chan 11, after I changed to chan 1 it was perfect as I couldn't pick any other network within my area (using my lappy with netstumbler installed to hunt for other networks)

Try also changing your router to G-only mode
